In the summer Sölden offers a full range of highlights for passionate walkers, hikers and alpinists who can choose from a huge variety of easy trails on the valley floor, along scenic water routes or towards the valley's highest peaks.
Summer activities
Leisurely pastureland trails from one hut to the next ensure fantastic nature exploration amid the mountains. More experienced hikers are strongly recommended to conquer the countless 3000-meter high peaks in the Ötztal Alps. There are numerous summer mountain lifts in operation – like Gaislachkogl and Giggijoch mountain gondolas. Among the family highlights ranks the interactive "Almzeit" theme hiking trail to several mountain inns, giving an insight into the region's traditions and history.
Cycling and biking in Sölden
Cyclists and mountain bikers of all ages will find a true heaven in Sölden and its Alpine surroundings: be it all-mountain fans, mountain bikers, road cyclists or E-bikers – there is something for all preferences. Furthermore, a variety of outstanding sports events like the famous Ötztaler Cycle Marathon or the fun-filled Paper Chase promise unlimited action. A number of expert Bike Schools with certified biking guides accompany you on memorable tours. Of course, all kinds of bicycles are available for rent in Sölden.
The sports field offers beach volleyball fields and tennis courts. Those in search for an adrenalin kick should try tandem paragliding, canyoning or rafting on the Ötztaler Ache mountain river.
Cultural highlights in the Ötztal
Besides numerous sports and activities, the Ötztal has a lot to offer to culture fans. In early September, once again the spectacular "FRIEDL of the Empty Pockets" hiking theater is scheduled in Vent.
